Key Updates on Natural Farming Guidelines

The government has introduced new guidelines for the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), with the goal of promoting natural farming and reducing reliance on chemical inputs. These guidelines aim to guide farmers through a structured transition to natural farming practices, focusing on location-specific solutions and public participation.

The guidelines include several key components:

• Development of scientifically validated common standards.
• Introduction of simplified, farmer-friendly certification processes.
• Establishment of a single national brand for chemical-free, naturally grown produce.
• Creation of two distinct bodies responsible for policy formulation and its implementation.
• Training of 30,000 Krishi Sakhis (community resource persons) to aid in the transition.

The guidelines have been shared with state governments for review and feedback.
