Pluvion, a German company focused on water management solutions, raised €1 million in pre-seed funding to advance its mission of creating more resilient water management systems. This financial boost will help the company develop cutting-edge AI software for the water sector.
AI-Powered Solutions for the Water Industry
Pluvion is working on AI-driven software designed to make water management solutions more accessible and cost-effective for businesses in the sector. CEO Phillip Grimm envisions a future where water management systems work like an app store, allowing partners to choose and integrate the products they need into their existing operations. By doing this, Pluvion aims to create a more sustainable, low-emission water industry, though Grimm acknowledges there is still much work to be done.
Leak Detection Without Flow Data
The company’s flagship product, Water+, uses machine learning algorithms to detect and monitor water infiltration in sewer networks, especially during heavy rainfall or flooding. Unlike traditional methods, Water+ doesn’t rely on flow data but instead uses water level measurements to understand system behavior. This innovative approach makes the solution both faster and more affordable compared to conventional techniques. It can seamlessly integrate with existing systems, making it easy for businesses to adopt.
Affordable, Scalable Solutions for the Water Sector
Water+ is designed to be affordable, scalable, and easy to integrate with customers’ existing setups. Pluvion claims that this solution is up to ten times more cost effective than traditional sewer monitoring methods. By offering these solutions through an “app store”-like platform, Pluvion aims to empower businesses and improve the water industry’s overall efficiency and sustainability.
Looking Ahead
The new funding will help Pluvion hire more team members to enhance product development and customer relations. As Water+ evolves, future updates will focus on helping customers assess the condition of their sewer systems, prioritize repairs, and optimize sensor placement. This will improve user engagement, provide greater transparency, and speed up decision-making.
Investor Support and Next Steps
The pre-seed funding round was led by D11Z Ventures, with additional support from other investors like Start-up BW Seed Fund and kopa Ventures. These investors believe that AI-powered solutions like Water+ can greatly improve wastewater systems, benefiting both the environment and the economy. With plans to launch another funding round in 2025, Pluvion is poised to continue expanding and making a significant impact in the water management industry.
